We hope to open August 2020
However due to COVID-19 related building delays this may be pushed back slightly. We promise to keep our website and social media pages as up to date as possible.
At The Nature Nursery Montessori, we are fortunate that due to our extensive outdoor facilities, outdoor nurseries are allowed to open ahead of indoor nurseries, this is being backed by scientific studies. We are following all up to date government and Care Inspectorate guidance so that you as parents can be reassured your child is receiving the best possible care.
During this stressful time it is important now, more than ever, that children spend time outdoors in the fresh air. It is easier for us to implement infection control measures outdoors and the health and well-being benefits of spending extended time in nature are endless.
So, how will we do it?
Due to the outdoor drop off and pick up area, 2 metres social distancing from parents should be achievable. Comfortable Settling periods for children and families within the outdoors will help us get to know you all in a fun and welcoming way.
All children will arrive fully prepared in suitable clothing for the day ahead and so there will be no need for us all to huddle indoors to get our waterproofs on.
Multiple hand-washing stations will be set up in different areas of the field and children will be encouraged to wash their hands regularly throughout the day. 2m distance lines will be marked out, like at supermarkets, for children waiting to wash their hands or use the toilet.
It is hoped that in the future, The Nature Nursery, will provide all meals, cooked in our outdoor kitchen. However, at this time, we ask parents to provide a packed lunch for their children. This will drastically reduce the communal use of bowls, plates, spoons etc. As we will enjoy daily picnics, children will be encouraged to find their own space on a mat to have lunch. This will not affect the social enjoyment of meal times as we can still chat to each other and read stories in the fresh air.
Most of the resources that the children will use for play will be found in the outdoors and may not have been touched before. Things like sticks and stones make for great imaginative play resources. Outdoor dens and shelters will be built and we will limit the number of children allowed in them at each time. Of course we will still have our indoor spaces if they are needed. These will be thoroughly cleaned throughout the day and we will follow infection control guidance for childcare settings.
Above all, we know how difficult social distancing will be when children are involved, especially as children settle and get to know us. We must be realistic about the need for social and emotional connection.
The Nature Nursery Montessori Ltd promises that your child’s day will still be fun and packed with lots of love, learning and laughter. In what we now know as the new normal.
